The Ground Segment Foundation
The United States Space Force (USSF) is rapidly modernizing its ground segment for Missile Warning/Tracking (MW/T) and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) to address advanced threats like hypersonic missiles. This modernization is essential to the Golden Dome concept, which demands a highly integrated, resilient, and high-speed missile defense shield.
Programs like FORGE, DARC, and Resilient MWT GMI are moving from legacy systems to a Modular, Open Systems Architecture (MOSA), enabling the agile integration and rapid capability delivery that Golden Dome requires. JTAGS provides immediate, in-theater warning and cueing that allows tactical missile defense systems to rapidly engage threats—a key element of the synchronized decisions C2BMC requires.
DARC / Space Fence / MOSSAIC
Space Domain Awareness
These programs provide the custody and protection layer. They monitor the orbital environment for threats to space-based sensors that enable Golden Dome. DARC's GEO tracking protects Next-Gen OPIR satellites, while Space Fence secures proliferated LEO/MEO layers.
